A spotlight presentation by Katie Carter-Leay will include a talk, live demonstrations and activities.
Local Illustrator & Educator Katie Carter-Leay (Katie in Colour) delivered a Mini-Zine Mini-Workshop! There was a short talk on zines and DIY culture, exploring what zines are, why they are important and the role they play in Katie's own creative practice. There will also be a short interactive demo, so that you can take home your own minizine to start filling in!
Alongside working as a 1:1 tutor, Katie's Illustration work spans a range of contexts such as greetings cards, advertising, window paintings, zines, surface patterns and more. She uses a range of mixed media techniques to create work that is vibrant and full of character. Katie is known for her love of bright colours, pattern-clashing and silliness, and loves nothing more than spending time at her desk with some scissors and a glue stick. When she isn't cutting and sticking, Katie likes rollerskating and hanging out with her cat (although not typically at the same time).
